Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

House: Neat. Scotch: On the Rocks.

I hosted my church dinner group last night. The first floor of my house is cleaner and neater than it has been in a long time. It’s even cleaner than when my parents visited. (Sorry, Mom and Dad. It was more about having the time and energy to do a proper cleaning job, than it was about a desire to have the place cleaned for you.)

As the host, I was responsible for the main dish and for drinks. For the main dish I decided to serve grilled chicken marinated in Italian dressing, and wild rice. For drinks, I had made bourbon punch, but nobody had any. There was a red wine drinker, a white wine drinker, a Pepsi drinker, and two of them brought their own scotch for scotch and water. I knew about the scotch drinkers. One of the ladies is 93 and always brinks an airline bottle of Dewar’s scotch to dinners because other alcohols make her nose itch. Give her a glass with ice and a little water, and she’s set.

It would make a nice bud vase.

I would love to keep my house this neat. How hard should it be to just not start piling things up and stuff? I think I already know the answer to that question…

Congratulations on a successful dinner! You can’t go wrong with Italian dressing, and it could have been another beverage option! Did you take some photos of your super-clean house? I’d love to see those.

Say, maybe the solution to all your bottle botheration is to buy all liquor in adorable bud vases, huh?

I didn’t take pictures of my clean house. Maybe if it’s still clean in a week, I’ll celebrate with pictures. It’s really wierd and blank and echo-y in my living room.

    It makes her nose itch…..HA!

I am so impressed with the wonderful dinner menu you provided!!! What a host!!! (I’d like to see a picture of the chicken & rice)

How was Max with all the company?

I can’t take a picture of the chicken and rice. They’re cold leftovers now. And I didn’t eat them for dinner tonight, so they’re officially trash now.

Max was a charmer. He spent the whole time walking from person to person and posing for them while they said “ooo” and “aaah”.

I move that you send the bourbon punch to Nebraska, so that Beth, your mom and I can enjoy it. Do I hear a second?

We missed you at the Maryland State Boys Choir Gala last night! Melody said you had a dinner thing. It was quite nice and I won one of my silent auction items.
Funny thing … Randy had Dewar’s for the first time last night at the Gala and REALLY liked it. In fact he had several 🙂
