Salad

I went to two parties in two days this past weekend. On Saturday, I went to our end-of-the-season church choir party. It was at Gerhard’s house. We sat outside behind his house. It was beautiful weather, the conversation was good, and he grilled bratwurst. Mmm… He has a big pond full of koi goldfish right next to his back deck. They were really fun to watch.

Yesterday, I went to a gathering of former co-workers at Paul and Martha’s house. We sat outside behind their house. It was beautiful weather, the conversation was good, and Paul grilled burgers. Mmm… Their back yard is like a park or something. It has beautiful shade trees and an expansive lawn. They also have a big garden. They gave me some radishes.

I brought the same thing to both parties: Spinach with watermelon and blueberries. I can’t remember what restaurant I had this in, but it was delicious. I dress it with a sweet raspberry vinaigrette. And I have leftovers! Mmm…

(I like to say Mmm…)

These are my leftovers, so they look a little beat up, but they will still be tasty!

That looks like summer in a bowl right there.

I’m glad for your nice weather. You’ve had some horrifically hot lately, yes? The kind where there isn’t enough salad in the world to make it better?

Summer in a bowl……great description Lauren!

I’ve never had fruit in my salad before … I’ll have to try that. Do you still salt the salad?

And I am most honored to be counted amongst such sublime carnage!!

Lauren and I have been to Gerhard’s house once. That must have been just over 20 years ago. My how time flies.

I have no memory of that.
