Unfinished Business: The Bathroom Floor

Years ago, I found out that a leaking pipe had damaged the sub-floor in my downstairs bathroom. This caused the tiles to become unattached, and left me with an hole in the floor. I saved the tiles, and after repairing the sub-floor, I was going to put the tiles back on. That was five years ago. Sheesh!

I have finally re-attached the tiles. It was a little tricky to get them even with the existing tile, but it looks good. Grouting took a little more effort than I expected. In fact, my whole tiling experience was not anything like those TV shows present it. After sticking the tiles down, you’re supposed to wait 24 to 36 hours before grouting. On TV, they show it being done immediately. And they make wiping with a sponge look effortless. When I did that, my grout lines got all messed up. I had to use my fingers and some paper towels to fix things. I couldn’t understand – TV is supposed to be my friend; it’s not supposed to lie to me.

Anyway, the floor is done. My plans are to do some more work to the room. And hopefully I won’t wait another five years. πŸ™‚

BEFORE:
I had just been letting the unattached tiles rest here.

AFTER:
The old grout is dirty. I need to clean it.

“TV …[is]…not supposed to lie to me”- you crack me up!

Oh, and yet another quality construction job by Brad. Outdoor…indoor…no environment too foreign for your skill set. Nicely done. πŸ™‚

I missed youknowwhat just a little yesterday – I was thinking of you all. At least you had nice weather youknowwhere!

Indeed – sunny without the humidity. Some kiddos still managed to whine about the heat but, then, they wouldn’t be in middle school if they hadn’t found something to kvwetch about, eh?

        [We missed you, too, Miss Shell…and Kimmie…and Debbie…and sanity…and reason…and… ]

Ha! ‘T.V. is supposed to be my friend, not lie to me” – that’s comedy gold! And sorry, but you can’t believe anything you see on HGTV – they use stunt sponges and grout doubles all the time.

I also have to say that you are on fire with gettin’ stuff done. Go, Brad!

Stunt sponges and grout doubles….how do you come up with these gems, Miss Lauren?!

    Wow!! That looks fantastic! Really!

And I’m with Lauren….you are a gettin’ stuff done maniac! I hope that doesn’t start to annoy me.

Btw: Are you sure the rest of the grout is dirty & not just another color of grout? The color is so uniform.
