Goodbye, Sweet Annie

Happy Birthday to my nephew Tim! Hooray!

I worked in the garden yesterday morning. I wanted to get some cleaning-up done. The back part of the walking path was particularly weedy. I sprinkled some Sweet Annie seeds in the back yard, and the only seeds that sprouted seem to have been the ones that fell on the path. I’ve been letting them grow because I like the smell of Sweet Annie so much, but the time had come for me to clear them out in the name of propriety.

BEFORE

Those cracks in the path are excellent seed germinators.

AFTER

I used my outside broom to sweep the path.

I fly to Nebraska today to visit my family. It should be great fun! (the visiting, not the flight… not that I wouldn’t mind if the flight was fun. It’s just that plane trips are usually too anxious to be fun. I do like airports though, so at least there’s that)

“…and the seed that fell along the path…” Sounds Scriptural, doesn’t it? Hmmm…

Thinking of you in the air today – stay in the air until you are supposed to land, ok? Don’t lose your luggage or your lunch – and don’t let them talk you into checking baggage you don’t really want to check. I fell for that the first time before Memorial Day weekend, then wised up and politely said, “No, thank you – I’ll take my chances” thereafter. It was not a problem either.

I know you will enjoy the Seward July 4th festivities again (wave at all the queens for us……no, not that kind!) and reconnecting with family. How long do you get this time; is it merely a long week-end?

Annie are you ok? Are you ok, Annie? (Woo!) a little Michael Jackson tribute for your garden. 🙂

Hooray for coming to Nebraska! Too bad we’ll miss the first part of your trip. 🙁

    Happy Birthday, Tim!

Wow!! That path looks great! I’m a horrible weeder. Could that be why my gardening attempts fail? But seriously, how did you clear it so thoroughly? Do you get down on your hands & knees and rip them out? Do you have a tool? Do you use a weed killer? My little patio needs this kind of cleaning.

Now, off to look up Sweet Annie seeds!

Your path may not smell sweet anymore, but it sure looks “Sweet”!! I hope I get to see you when you are here in Nebraska, it’s doubtful though….:-(.
I’m headed, the other direction, to Iowa for the 4th. How long will you be here? I’ll just have to be content to be with you daily in your “posts”….. <3 Aunt Bev 🙂
    P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TIM!!
