Aquarium Amusement

Peggy Update: Peggy is home and is already getting around a little. I’m stunned. I thought vertebral fusions meant some flat-on-your-back time. The wonders of modern medicine! Anyway, she’s still in a lot of pain, and she has to monitor her incision very carefully, but she’s glad to be in familiar surroundings.

For me, it was another day of rest yesterday. I did do the message in church. It was a good test to see if I have my strength back. I’m definitely not 100%, but I made it through the whole service. HERE is the message. When I got home, I collapsed on the couch and didn’t get up again until bed time.

At least my living room is a pleasant place to pass time. I have TV, my laptop, and even an aquarium. My aquarium needs a water change, but other than that, it’s looking pretty good.

Lots of green.

Lots of green.

Something I have in this tank that I’ve never had before is duckweed. I always wanted it, even though it is a weed in some situations. I think I’ve never had bright enough light before. In my tank, it does seem to be performing some useful functions. It’s absorbing nutrients and it’s shading the tank and keeping algae growth low.

They're just little leaves with a single root hanging down.

That last picture looks otherworldly. Very cool.

Good to hear that you are recovering! I cracked up at the “I do like my couch time.” line in your message. The rest of it was great – some things for me to chew on later today.

Yea for duckweed! Glad it is helping the overall health of your aquarium. We study lots about algal blooms in the Chesapeake Bay science class I was stuck teaching three days before school started get to teach this year and may add some info about the possible role of duckweed in reducing them. Thanks for that.

Yea for healing – I suspect you’re going to try to crawl into school then this week? What antibiotic finally did the trick for you? There’s cruddy stuff going around – praying all the Lysol wipes I use everywhere here keep it far, far away.

…and thanks for the Peggy update. I’ve sent her e-mails but assumed it would be weeks before she’d be able to sit upright to read them.

BRAD…….you ARE getting better! What a “sermonizer”! You’re getting better and better at revealing the Scripture to your church goers….and to me! Thanks! I was glad to see that Lauren also got the sermon funny “couch” line. Did people chuckle? You will get even better when you get back to your classes.
Have a blessed healing week, son! Love, DAD
