I culled some plants from my garden yesterday. I am not active on Facebook, but I did put pictures there and offer the dug-up plants for free. I got three takers! Cool!

Here are the ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots of the plants in my yard.

In front, I dug out my false yucca (hesperaloe parviflora) and my redhot poker (kniphofia uvaria) because they were at the base of my newly planted (a year ago) redbud. The plants would have been crowded out by the tree roots. Better to remove them now while they can be salvaged.

In the side yard, I tore out most of the iceplant (Delosperma cooperi). I built a really nice planter out of rocks, and the iceplant was swallowing it so that I could not longer admire it. I left some scraggly pieces, but I may be taking them entirely out. I could use that planter for annuals. I love annuals! Just look at the flowers in the foreground of the pictures below!

In back, my ground orchids (bletilla striata) were crowding my foot path. I dug out a lot, but not all of them. I like them where they are, they just needed to be thinned.

Even after my Facebook friends took plants, I had a ton left over. I put it on the free section of Craigslist as a ‘curb alert’, which means you don’t have to email me, just come to my house and get it. By the early evening, all the plants were gone. Cool! I’m so glad other people could use them! I’m also glad I didn’t have to deal with all that yard trash.

I put labels down with care information.

So that curb alert thing really works? Hmmm….much of our basement might just wind up on the curbwedon’thavenourblock any day now! Thanks for that.

    BTW, nice “after” shots.

It’s surprising how run down some of the stuff on the free section of Craigslist is. I wonder if people actually take all that stuff.

Love your pictures!!!! (& You!!) Aunt Bev 🙂

I saw your Facebook post. Did Karla come to get any plants? 😉

That is cool that the Craigslist post went well, too. Will you now be even more firmly entrenched in that system? It’s so successful!!

Karla wanted the truck. She did not get it 🙂

I haven’t been a regular visitor to the free section of Craigslist for a while now. I’m not sure what happened. I think it was trying to deal with all the junk I already have made me not want to have any more junk.
