Garden Deletion

Yesterday was GORGEOUS weather. I was at school, but not teaching classes. It was our post-musical day off. Well, the kids were off. The teachers came in to clean up the sanctuary and put the stage and props away.

In the afternoon, I signed my mortgage refinance papers (woo hoo!) and then went home. I actually had time to work in the garden. I was glad because it’s supposed to be rainy and cold all weekend. I planted a few things that have been waiting in pots for so long. I also cut down my apple trees.

The apple trees have been diseased and bug-infested since right after I planted them. I’ve read about treating such a problem. It requires a broad-spectrum potent chemical spray to be applied several times during the growing season. I tried spraying it once two years ago. I ended up being covered in poisonous chemicals, because I was spraying up into the air to coat the tallest parts of the trees. It was unpleasant. The apple trees had to go.

I used the reciprocating saw. It was quick.

Goodbye, apple trees. I am sure you will make some wonderful fires someday.
