Icy, Warm, Cold

EDIT: Dang it! I was so excited about the ice, I forgot to say Happy Birthday to Lauren! Happy Birthday, Lauren!

Freezing rain fell last night and this morning. It’s our first winter weather event this year. I think it ended up being a little worse than they were predicting. Or maybe people didn’t take the warnings seriously or something. There are accidents all over town. The worst one has I-95 completely closed.

The weird thing is, the prediction for today is highs in the forties. By tomorrow, it’s supposed to hit fifty. Then tomorrow night it will get cold again.

The ice is hard on my garden plants.

That is so scary. We have just the tiniest glazing of ice from a mist freezing on the roads and it was bad enough. Stay safe today! (I’m sorry about your plants. 🙁 )

Thanks! I actually forgot, too. Yesterday my co-worker/friend gave me a 12-pack of Pepsi and I thought, “You’re my Secret Santa? Is today when we reveal ourselves?”

So far I’ve only left the house to bring in the mail around 4 pm, the ice was just not disappearing as the oh-so-accurate weather people said it would by 10 am (only job on the planet where…). Made bar cookies for a caroling event near our church later today – hoping things stay liquid while I am driving/walking around – just got over a bum knee a few days ago and would rather not be back to using a cane again any time soon. Sorry your plants don’t handle the ice coating – ours look lovely covered in ice. Lovely, but scary.
