Slow Spot

My commute takes me around the north and west sides of the beltway that runs around Baltimore. I leave early enough that traffic isn’t usually a problem. I do, however, see an interesting traffic flow phenomenon each day.

There is a part of the beltway that curves and goes up a hill at the same time. It causes all of the drivers to slow down by five to ten miles per hour. I’m usually pretty conscious of my speed and try keep it consistent, so I always notice when I get to this spot, because I’m pressing down on my accelerator, but getting stuck behind people who are slowing down. Right after this spot is a big stretch of downhill road, and everybody not only goes back to their previous speed, but even goes a little faster. It’s awkward to pass them, then get passed.

The slow spot was empty of cars this morning.

Good grief. You drive in the night. I bet ‘sleeping in’ for you is like 6 a.m.

I am glad that no one else was on the road when you took a photo.

Going around a tractor on St. Paul Road is the most traffic that I care to deal with!!! (^_^)
