Happy Star Wars Day! May the fourth be with you!
Our school is celebrating May Day today. We’ve been preparing for it for weeks now. Each class dances a hula. It takes lots of practice.
This week’s preparations have revolved around what we will be wearing. On Wednesday, we went into the forest to pick some palapalai fern leaves. I had already scouted out a good patch with Andrea last week.
Yesterday, we assembled the ferns into haku – that is, lei that you wear on your head. The boys made them with just ferns, and the girls also wove flowers into theirs.
Oh my stars!! Those are gorgeous! Ok, that is enough to make me want to live there. Did someone provide the flowers or did you pick those, too? Holy cow.
It’s nice seeing that sweatshirts are needed in Maui.
May the Fourth be with you!
Beautiful !
Lei Day at last! Those are indeed gorgeous and must have added much to the celebration. Nicely done, students!
[BTW – until I was sure all the quaking, shaking, and hot spewing yesterday was taking place NOT in Maui, I was concerned for you. ‘Course, who’s to say Maui will never experience all that either. –reason #65 not to move to a volcanic island…]
