Some friends of my mom’s from Seward are here on Maui. They have been visiting several of the Hawaiian islands. They were on the big island the day of the earthquake and volcanic eruption. They left only a couple of hours before it happened. They even toured the volcano area that day. Freaky!
They’ve been on Maui a couple of days, then they’ll go to Kauai, then home.
I met them at their hotel in Ka’anapali for some shave ice. I see them at Seward when I visit, but it was so fun to see them outside of their usual surroundings.
The hotel was beautiful. The resorts here are really amazing… full of beautiful landscaping and gorgeous appointments.
The swimming pool had waterfalls!
This particular hotel seemed to specialize in having exotic critters. There were parrots, swans, ducks, and… penguins!
They were all standing together for a group photo.
These are apparently penguins that don’t need cold. It was so weird to see penguins. Ha!
Penguins? Penguins? What? That is crazy!
Shave ice at a resort sounds just perfect! 🙂
