Air Repair

Last weekend, I moved my bedroom air conditioner so I could paint around the window. When I touched the exhaust tube, it crumbled. The plastic had become very brittle.

I wondered if there was some kind of replacement tubing. There is. Amazon sells it. But I wondered if I could use dryer vent tubing. That is made of metal. It would be a LOT tougher than the plastic stuff. I ordered some.

It came on Thursday. The diameter is 0.1 inch too big, but I could squeeze it and force it into the openings of the air conditioner and the window panel.

The only problem is that the new tubing is very flexible and moves easily, so it wouldn’t stay in place and kept sagging to the floor. I tried tying a garbage bag around it, but that didn’t help. I temporarily propped it up with my step ladder.

It seems to be working. Maybe the step ladder will just be a permanent decoration in my bedroom. Maybe I could put a potted plant on it or something…

I’ll be over in a little bit. I’m going to need a yardstick and some duct tape. And a donut.
