Work and Reward

Happy Birthday to Lloyd! Woo hoo! He’s joining the “multiple of 13” club.

Yesterday I spent most of the day at school. I’m leaving for the mainland today, and I won’t get back until right before school, so I had to do paperwork and organization to be ready for my first day back.

Work was slow, but I think I finished the things I needed to finish.

When I got home, it was packing and cleaning. I took a break for dinner, and for dessert I had some amazing cookies that one of my kids’ mom cooked. I’m embarrassed to say I can’t remember which country she’s from, but it’s European. The cookies look like it. No flashy colors or piles of frosting:

They were so delicious! I ate most of them in one sitting.

Safe travels today! Happy Birthday, Lloyd!

I think those cookies are called ‘almond horns’ or something like that . They were a thing on the Great British Bake Off. (As Louise would say on Bob’s Burgers, “It’s so weird that that’s how they choose their Prime Minister.)

Mom used to make those almond horseshoes and we loved them with coffee especially. Did I get the recipe? Yes, I did. Have I tried making them myself? Used to … never tasted the same, though, so I quit. Now I just savor the memories. Just a teensy bit jealous that you got some real ones to enjoy.
