Construction Compass

We’ve been doing Constructions in 8th grade math. I rather enjoy them. But demonstrating things on the board is hard. I didn’t have a giant compass, so I made one out of a couple of bamboo pieces and masking tape. It wasn’t very good, because it wouldn’t stay open the same amount, and my constructions were compromised.

But then I looked online, and saw that there are actual compasses made for white boards. I got one! It works famously!

What a cool find! I have fond memories of middle school geometry units wherein arcs were struck with those things but chalk had to be affixed to the ends. Never realized they had been upgraded for the 21st century classroom. Hope this makes construction even more rewarding!

That suction cup on the store-bought one is pretty brilliant, but I really love your original creation. Kudos for your inventiveness!
