Music Store

Yesterday I went to the music store. It’s not as simple as it sounds though. The music store is in The Middle of Nowhere, Pennsylvania. Actually, the town is called Hanover. It is an hour and a half drive from my house. I don’t know why there isn’t a proper music store in Baltimore or even in Washington DC, but this is it. This is the only music store anywhere around.

The trip is made a little more bearable by the pleasant countryside scenery you must pass through to get to Hanover. There are several mysteries along the way. Here is one:

Look at this forest of trees.
...puts the sylvania in Pennsylvania.

Now look closer.
Strange sylvania.
Not only are the trees all the same species, they are planted in rows and columns. Hmmm…

In spite of the long trip, the music store really is nice. It has a great selection of all kinds of music. I was looking for piano music for my church and handbell music for my other church. I found both. But gee willikers, is it expensive! This is all I got for a hundred bucks!

Goodbye, Ben.

And so, did you walk in and ask for, “A Treasury of Beloved Hymns”?

I missed all references as I read your post. Lloyd was reading over my shoulder and had to explain everything – ‘sylvania’, ‘ben’ and ‘hundred bucks’.

Aww Brad—I’m sorry you hate the ride to PA. I love it!!
(Except for the time I made a test run to the Sights & Sound Theatre using stupid mapquest directions & got lost in some real back woods Amish country. I tried to ask some young amishes (?) the way back to route whatever, but they have been trained well to ignore wicked city women in vehicles & just ignored me.)

It looks like you stumbled upon the amish Forrest of Doom! You can tell by the 2 trees in front that represent BE WARE! I’m glad you weren’t made into amish fertilizer taking your pictures.

And the next time you need something from PA, I’d be happy to go get it for you—I really do love that drive!!!
