Turkey for Thanksgiving

I got up at 3am yesterday to travel to New York with Denis. By travelling so early, we were hoping to miss the bad traffic. We did. It was a nice trip. Except it was so early.

We’re staying at the apartment of a friend named Christian. He and Denis know each other from medical school days. Yesterday was kind of a hang-out day. I watched a little Macy’s Parade, then I watched “A Miracle on 34th Street”. I’ve never seen that movie in it’s entirety. Denis and Christian don’t eat turkey normally, so they had some Pork Adobo. I got some turkey legs from the store and cooked them by themselves. They actually came out well. Except I prefer white meat. But at least I had some turkey on Thanksgiving.

Later on, we went on an errand that took us past Chinatown. We stopped at Christian’s favorite place to eat there. The people all knew him. We had crabs in the shell and a whole flounder that was pan-fried. I wish I would have taken a picture, but by the time I thought of it, the food was all gone.

Instead, here is my turkey leg lunch:

Almost like being at the Renaissance Fair.

YAY for turkey! And you can hardly beat fresh steamed broccoli. Happy shopping day everyone!

    You’re leg looks scrumptous!

And poo-poo on shopping today. I got up & was at Best Buy at 4:55am this morning in hopes to get a new home computer that was on sale. OH MY GOGH! The entire lot was filled with cars, the line of people went around the building & onto the street behind the store. But I waited, & waited in the dark of course they were sold out. I feel so violated.

You were in New York, so of course I hate you. But aside from that – that turkey leg looks really good! How did you cook it?

No shopping for me, thanks. In fact, I’m such a Scrooge, I contemplated getting up early and standing by the checkout lines with a dour face asking people, “Do you really

    • Lauren

      need that?” oops.

At last – a photo of one of Brad’s legs that’s exceptionally attractive!!

…and God bless you for traveling so early – you definitely had the edge there. By 11 a.m. Route 70W to Hagerstown was laden with all those driving “over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house” or, in my case, the in-law homestead for one final Frey family feast in the house that Dad built. Sigh. It was rather bittersweet…and I’m not talking about the pumpkin pie either.

Congrats on your fun-filled trip – get home safely now and try not to get rear-ended [in Throgsneck like I did back in September]. Not fun, but sort of commensurate with a car ride to the Big Apple, I think.
