A Delightful Day

I started the day by switching to a new set of teeth trays. It’s so interesting to put the new ones on, because I can feel them pressing my teeth sideways. I like it. In the picture below it goes oldest to newest, left to right.

In the afternoon, I did some work at home. I did a little light gardening, including potting some houseplants, including my new ‘Art Hodes’ begonia. Nice!

I also got some new lights for my kitchen! Woo hoo! There are three of them. Two of them were relatively easy:

But the third light had a weird hole in the ceiling behind it. It’s a giant metal box that’s like a foot square. I have no idea how I’ll mount a new light fixture there.

Well THAT stinks! Does your school have any parents who are electricians by any chance?

Ugh. What a weird discovery. I agree with Carol – find someone?

Yay for your next round of tooth trays! This is so fascinating!

Fish Food

There’s a restaurant right next to my school that serves fish like this – you pick your kind of fish, you pick the seasoning style, and you pick the sides. My order is always the same – sea bass with cajun butter, black beans, and grilled zucchini.

Last night we had an event at school, so I stayed through after school was over, and had dinner there. It was pretty healthy, compared to going to some fast food place.

Interesting fact – there are a lot of fish restaurants like this one that follow the same model. I’ve tried a few different places. So far, this one’s my favorite, which is nice, because it’s so close to work.

Ceiling Circles

One of the ceiling lights in my kitchen stopped working shortly after I moved in. It has a weird ring-shaped fluorescent bulb, so I’ve delayed replacing it, because where the heck do you get weird ring-shaped fluorescent bulbs?

Recently, another one of the lights stopped working. Now I only had one light, so it was pretty dim in the kitchen. I finally decided to do some homework and find replacement bulbs on the internet. I found them and ordered them.

…and they don’t work.

I think it’s not the bulbs that have stopped working, it’s the ballasts. Dang.

Time for some replacement light fixtures I guess.

Bountiful Begonias

I’ve had an increasing fascination with begonias. Fortunately, I’ve been able to resist impulse buys. Unfortunately, I have not been able to resist other kinds of buys. One of those is a begonia from my past. The variety is called “Art Hodes”. I don’t actually remember what I did with it my old one. I had it right before I moved to Maui, so I must’ve given it away. I loved its big, droopy, hairy leaves.

I really wanted another one, and things are so easy to order from the internet and I got one. It came yesterday.

It’s a big healthy cutting. And apparently, it grows into a big plant. I think I might grow this outside…

Sweetener Second Thoughts

I usually write my posts at night before I go to bed, because my most regular readers are all ahead of my time zone, so I would miss them if I posted in the morning.

Monday night I went to bed after eating a dessert full of allulose. Everything seemed to be fine, until my stomach started gurgling. Without going into details, let’s just say that the warnings about gastrointestinal discomfort were true.

I guess this won’t end up being the regular sugar substitute I had hoped. I suppose I could still use it in smaller quantities, but sugar in small quantities isn’t that bad really, so…

Anyway, I still have three delicious lemon desserts that will send you to the bathroom all night long. Does anyone want them?
