Redolent Roses

Yesterday was mostly a rest day. Things are busy at school. I did finally get my new roses in the ground though. The planter in front of my house is full now. And every rose is one with a strong scent.

Woo-hoo! Those look lovely! I would imagine that your school is gearing down for the end of the year, which means very very very busy. Praying that it all goes well and that there is a bit more rest on the horizon.

Friday Fun

I enjoy knowing about fun things that other people haven’t heard about, and then sharing them. I recently showed the seventh graders “Friday” by Rebecca Black. They loved it!

I showed them a week ago, and they asked for me to play it again yesterday. I had a few minutes at the end of class, so I did!

Kitchen Cover

My kitchen came with a black-and-white checkered floor. It is whimsical perhaps, but it’s not something I would choose myself, and over time, the white squares are looking dirty. I hope to replace it some day.

But in the meantime, I got a rug. It’s an outdoor kind of rug, so it’s tough and non-absorbent – good for a kitchen. And it was cheap at the Home Goods store 🙂

McDonald’s and Minnows

Yesterday I had an evening meeting at school, so I stayed through after classes were over. I went to McDonald’s for dinner. It’s bad for me, but it’s fast, and I’m not hungry anymore after I eat it. When I saw my fish sandwich, I was amazed at how well-put-together it was. Someone took their time when they assembled it.

In other exciting news, instead of doing any of the really important work I should have done after school, I cleaned my classroom aquarium. It had been a LONG time.

There had been some fatalities, so while I was out getting McDonald’s, I also got some more White Cloud Mountain minnows. Yay! They hid when I first put them in, but I got a picture of some of them:

Faucet Fail

My kitchen sink faucet is inadequate. I would like to change it, but the underside is inaccessible because of the narrow space between the sink and the wall. I would have to remove the sink from the counter top, and that would cause a cascading series of events in the kitchen which I am not prepared to face right now.

The biggest problem with the faucet is the water flow. It’s way too low. I thought maybe some mineral buildup might be the problem, so I got one of those mineral-dissolving cleaners at the store so I could soak the aerator. I was not able to remove it, so I had to rig a setup with a sandwich bag.

It didn’t work. Dang. I guess I’ll have to keep dealing with a cruddy faucet for now.
