Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

All Walls Up

The walls are nearly complete. The drywall is all hung and only needs to be patched and mudded. The area under the window turned out to not be solid cement, but only a thin layer of it spread over bricks. I broke away some of it so a piece of luan would fit on top. Hopefully that will be enough. (See the first and second picture below) I still don’t know what I’ll do if the sink anchor screw holes come out on top of the brick. I guess it’ll be time for some serious brick and cement anchors. I decided to pull down more of the south wall. The crumbling plaster wouldn’t have been an ideal surface for hanging cabinets or for tiling a backsplash onto. One 8×4 piece of drywall covered the area nicely (See the third picture).

The under-window area before:
Crazy cement overcoat.

The under-window area after:
The luan worked. We\'ll see if it stays.

The south wall with drywall:
Some big cracks to patch.

Who are you, Bob Villa? Oh wait, you must not be, or you would have left yourself a comment, and how vain is that?
By the way, the new bradaptation.com layout is very aesthetically pleasing. Lovely.
