Slanty Toenail

I go through this every school year: holes in my socks. My big toe toenail slants up. While I’m breaking in my teacher shoes, my big toenail is always black, because it’s rubbing on the top of my shoe. Then in always happens — I get a hole. I lose more socks this way than any other way, including getting lost in the dryer. Maybe somebody could introduce some product that would cap your toe to protect your sock. Or somebody could invent a sock with steel mesh in the toe so toenails couldn’t wear through. Or maybe there could be a special surgery that straightens toenails out so they don’t slant up. Where are the inventers and frivolous surgeons when you need them?

All my socks must face this fate.

Well, hello Mom-nail-boy! You really do have big toenails just like Mom’s. Have you thought about reverting to trimming your nails down to stubs again (though you risk losing your pinky toenail entirely)? At least that way you wouldn’t have to buy new socks every six weeks…
