Danger at School?

Two days ago, there was a bite-sized Almond Joy on the floor right outside my classroom. The wrapper seemed to be intact, and the candy was only slightly squashed, so I ate it. Then yesterday, there was another bite-sized Almond Joy, but this one was more squashed. It seemed a little suspicious to me that one of my favorite candy bars would just suddenly appear outside my classroom TWICE.

Then I realized: I have been experiencing a tickle or an itch in my throat since I ate that first candy bar. Is someone trying to kill me at school? Have I ingested a slow-acting poison or a biological agent? Could it have any connection to what has been happening with my neighbors? Would the Dead Man know anything about this?

Sweet, sweet candy, or deadly poison?

GET OUT! (Now fall back as if I’ve just shoved you.) I told my kids on Halloween that their homework was to bring me all of their Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars! I ended up with only two! Can you believe it? Now someone is secretly leaving YOU my favorite candy? They better not be one of my students!
NOW THE BIG SCARY COINCIDENCE: I had been saving those two Almond Joys in my desk for a special occasion (like having a bad day or something.) Well yesterday afternoon while you all were at the Veteran’s Day assembly and I was falling asleep working on my NMSA session reports, I popped one of those precious Almond Joy candies from my drawer. (It was a little soft, but still delightful.) GUESS WHAT? Last night my throat started hurting REAL BAD! I’ve already done the salt water gargle this morning, but it is still hurting. Could this be a conspiracy against us teachers who love coconut? Does the person responsible for the “dead man” next door know that I was snooping around the back yard with you that one day looking for evidence?
    This calls for another investigation.
(By the way Lloyd – this comment is a little long for me, but nothing like your “breaking in the stove” comment – I loved that!)

OMG! I think you’re on to something! These two mysteries could actually be related! It’s like season 1 and season 2 of lost! (which Lauren watches as if it actually made sense)!

–Oh, and thanks Michele (it was hard to write that much about something I don’t know anything about. I felt like I was taking an education class.)
