The Nativity Story

I went to see “The Nativity Story” (the movie) yesterday. I really liked it. It brought out the human side of this story. I especially can’t stop thinking about a scene between Mary and Joseph as they wonder when they’ll know that their child is different “Will it be something he says?” Mary asks. “I wonder if I will be able to teach him anything,” Joseph responds.

I’m a big fan of soundtracks, and this one was very interesting. It used Christmas carol tunes. If you know the words to the carols, it makes the soundtrack really stand out. Herod is a main character, and they use “The Conventry Carol” as his theme music. The third verse: “Herod the king in his raging, Charged he hath this day, His men of might, In his own sight, All children young to slay.”

The Christmas Star is done well.

Cool Beans (about connecting the Christmas carols with the scene). You should tell your students you’ll give themn X for every example of that that they can find (where X is something they think is really cool and costs you little or nothing).
