My birthday dinner came in the mail yesterday! The Chameleon Cafe is a nearby restaurant where I really enjoy eating. It’s a converted row house, so it’s a cozy little restaurant. It’s not Fastfood, and the prices reflect that, but the food is great! Their menu changes each season so I can’t recommend anything specifically, but I can say the best fish dish I’ve ever eaten was from there. It was monkfish wrapped in bacon (mmmm…bacon…) served with a citrus sauce. I can still taste it in my dreams. It was awesome!
Anyway, a couple years ago I joined their Birthday Club. That is to say, I wrote my name and address in a book they have. Now I get a card every year that says I get $15 off my birthday dinner! Isn’t that cool? It’s valid for a week before and a week after February 8. Yay!
Will you be dining with or without Lumpkin? I hear lumpkins eat for free as long as accompanied by a paying adult … so who would you be taking with you?
Take me! Take me!
I think we can make it out there for the 8th. Will you buy us dinner????
That’s funny – the WORST fish dish I’ve ever eaten was from there when I was with you and some of the other teachers! I shouldn’t say WORST – I was just expecting my fish to be cooked. The outer quarter inch of the salmon WAS tasty, but then I was grossed out by the raw middle. I guess that was my fault for not asking. If I had been a more experienced diner at the Chameleon Cafe (like you are) I would have known. Next time I will know better. Speaking of next time….
It had never occured to me that that was a reasonable question to ask. But rest assured I will henseforth ask it whenever I order fish, “Will the middle of the fish be served raw this evening?”.
