Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

To Lincoln!

Yesterday was Brighton Kollipara’s birthday. He’s the son of Samith and Stephannie, good friends from college. I’m in Nebraska every year for Brighton’s birthday, so every year I go along with Lloyd and Lauren to celebrate it. I’m probably just “that strange man who comes to my birthday parties every year” to Brighton, but it’s fun to see them. They live in Lincoln. The party was at a health club. It was really enjoyable.

While we were in Lincoln, we stopped at a few other places. Most notable for me was the grocery store. I found some Count Chocula! I also got Frankenberry while I was there. Since I’m from Maryland, where everything is regulated by the government, one particular isle struck me as odd. It was full of liquor! You’d never see that in Baltimore! And notice the sign above it: It says “Pop”. Hehehe…

Eggs, bread, milk, and rum.

We Nebraskans are way ahead of the curve on this. Many of us enjoy a nice glass of whiskey with our Count Chocula. It’s just how it’s done in polite company.

    Ok… so no Boo-Berry?

  3. Michele

    Now THAT’S a full-service grocery store! 🙂 One-stop shopping – that’s what I like.
Let’s test how far ahead you Nebraskans are – do you have Michelob Ultra with Lime yet?

    • Beth

You mean they’re actually putting the lime in for you?

You East Coast-ers, what are you, too lazy to cut up your own limes and squeeze them?

  4. Peggy

What’s up with having Pepsi & Coke in this isle and no Sprite? What do you mid-westerners mix your wine with then?

In Indiana, pharmacies can sell liquor, but it can’t be cold – it has to be room temperature (or higher, I suppose). I guess they don’t want people to pick up their drugs and say, “Why, I think I’ll take my antibiodics with some beer! That sounds tasty!” 😉

      .ʎʇsɐʇ punos sǝop ʇɐɥʇ

Beer’s supposed to be cold? I’m doing something wrong….

        • Karla

Cold or warm, it still tastes like goat pee.

And that’s probably the same effect you’d get by combining your vicadin with your Leinenkugel’s.

So how’d you do that nifty trick? I’ve been trying fliph and flipv but no luck.
