Yesterday was the last day of school. It’s always chaotic. Our big tradition is to have a cookout lunch, then to have a watergun fight. Yesterday’s watergun fight was really fun. Kim and Debbie fill the kids’ waterguns with hoses, and the rest of us watch. …until Carol and I get our waterguns out. Then we join in. It’s really fun running through and squirting everyone. Of course we’re irresistable targets to everyone, but that’s okay on a day like yesterday. It was hot outside!
After all the picnicking, we had the 8th Grade Affirmation Service. It’s kind of like graduation, but not, because it’s eighth grade. It was a nice service. We had it at my church, which is big and pretty. The kids were fun to watch. There even was some crying.
YAY! for the end of school! YAY! for watergun fights! YAY! for teachers who join in the fun! YAY! for eighth graders leaving…oops, did I put that in writing?
Jeez, Arron still has another week. 🙁
And so ends the 2007-2008 school year. Amen.
Next year you could be an overachiever and build this!

(I’m not messing with you people. If you google ‘super water gun’, it’s the fourth link down.)
What was even more fun was what happened after the WaterGunFight and after Affirmation.
Thanks to our Toast-mistress last evening. Not only could you talk loudly enough we could hear the words (no small feat over the guitars and singing there), but they were each heart-felt and much appreciated, I know, by each recipient. Amazing what a good shot of Bailey’s will do for a body, isn’t it?
Seriously…thanks, Kim…
…and did you catch the later-middle-aged couple getting their groove on in the room from whence cometh the live music? It was simultaneously entertaining and embarrassing, as in “Would I look that funny now dancing to music like that?”
The last day of school is always so fun!! I love it!!
And yesterday was no exception! I wish everyday could be filled with such merriment !!
BLS MS teachers are the best!!! Ever!!!
Big Loaded Sidearmed?
…but only on The Last Day, Lloyd. Rest of the year it’s THWTDNLMAD (tiny hidden weaponry that does not leave marks after deployment)
