It’s time once again to mulch the garden. The weeds are high, and the ground is dry. Mulch smothers the weeds and keeps the water in the soil longer.
Last year I got four cubic yards of mulch. I’ve decided that each year I would add one more yard to the order until I clearly reached the point of getting too much. So this year’s total is five yards. It’s quite a pile. I was concerned about not being home because of high school graduation in the morning. But as it turned out, the mulch guy was late, so I was home. I laid out some tarps, and he backed the truck into my yard and dumped all the mulch out. Easy-peasy.
I wanted to spread the mulch into the garden immediately, but yesterday was HOT. Today and tomorrow are also supposed to be HOT. Dang. Do I spread it when I have lots of time, but the heat index is 110, or do I wait until it’s cooler but I have to rush? I think I’m going to go with the “cooler” option.
Until then, I’ll just have this huge pile of mulch in my front yard.
I like the angle on that picture. It’s nice to see your whole house.
(And I think you should just get up at your regular before-God time and do some mulching before school wihle it’s still cool and before you shower to go to meetings. That’s my vote.)
That’s a great idea, but isn’t he going in early to grade papers?
Could you please, please, please make a giant headstone and put it at the end? That would keep those robbers and rabbits away!!
We could call it Rodent Hill.
I think you should go into a modified detasseling schedule. Get up at 4:30, be out working by first light, but then call it a day around nine and head in to school. If that puts you there a little late you should just say something like, “my mother is very ill”.
Or perhaps you could say, “My sister had a hair tragedy.”
Again Beth – you put a smile on my face and a chuckle in my heart. You are funny!
