Aged to Perfection

Last week Monday, all us Middle School teachers took a break from our after-school work to eat lunch together. Michele went to “The Farm Store” (which is what she calls local convenience store Royal Farms) to get a wrap. She also got a couple of bags of salty snacks. One of them was Cheetos Puffs. I love Cheetos Puffs. I ate them by the handsful. They were delicious. But they were not at their best. Cheese puff snacks are most delectable when they have gotten stale and aquire a slight chewiness.

Fortunately, there were left-overs. I took the bag to my room, left it open, and let it sit on a student desk. Yesterday, as I finished my grading for the year (Yay! I’m finished!), I tested the puffs. They are perfectly stale! Awesome! I reined in my desire to consume the whole bag so that I could enjoy the delicacy a little each day. I think I have enough to make it through the next four days of meetings.

Good thing I have something nice to look forward to.

I've been hiding the bag under graded papers. Pretty sneaky, huh?

Ha! You and Lloyd must have been served stale Cheetos at St. Paul during your formative years. No one else could crave such a thing.

Yuck! What very strange eating habits you have!

The only thing that tastes good stale, is Oreo cookies … leave that bag open & after a week those puppies are nice & soft … Mmmmm …

(BTW: everyone in Balto. calls it the Farm Store silly)

Didn’t you always used to eat your Cheetos with a fork?

I think I can barely remember doing that. It does sound reasonable. They’re dangerously cheesy.

I can see doing that too. Then you don’t lose any of the cheesy goodness on your fingers and then have to wipe your hand on your sock because you forgot to get a napkin while you were in the kitchen and you’re to lazy to go back and get one now.

Are you serious? Don’t you just lick off any residue on your fingers … fool!

I don’t remember if that was St Paul’s or Seward. I do remember you saying you did it so your fingers wouldn’t turn orange. I think you better start doing that again, because I tell people about it. You wouldn’t want me to lie about you, would you? 😉
