Water Cat?

Max seems to be fascinated by water. Earlier, I had recorded his unhealthy interest in toilets. I must also mention how he is irresistibly drawn to other kinds of water as well. I am training him to follow me wherever I go, so when I get ready to take a shower, he is there. When I turn on the water, he peeks over the edge of the tub for a while, then jumps in. He does not walk under the spout or sit in the water, but he will watch it as long as I let him. I won’t suddenly turn the shower on and soak him, because I need him to be semi-calm whenever I wash him. It won’t do to have him be afraid of faucets.

Watching me watch him watch the water.

He also has an extreme interest in the frozen water that comes out of the refrigerator door. Why is he so attentive? Does it remind him of the meat grinder from his earliest days at Destyny Sphynx?

Are you still giving him some raw meat? He’s a big boy now; he doesn’t need it ground!

He gets a chunk of raw stew beef every evening. Besides that, it’s canned food for him.

        Such a lucky kitty!!

Ha! From that angle in the video he looks like a mouse!

It will be so cool if he turns out to be one of those cats that loves to be in water! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N63r-EyuRpY I’ll be sooo jealous, though.

[Note to self: next time we shower Brad with gifts for any reason, include a bottle of CLR for that tub.]

Just wait until he swats at running water coming from a faucet, though – we once had a “Boots” tabby that loved to do that. I’m starting to wonder if there is a hydrophobic/hydrophilic gene option in cats. Some love water – most, the opposite. Go figure.

…and yes, I do believe your ice maker sounds remarkably like a meat grinder (this from a butcher’s daughter). You may have something there, Doctor!

You are fortunate young Max is so easily entertained. He needs no balls of yarn to drag all around the house and tangle in furniture legs, etc.

I’m afraid it’s not as simple as using CLR. A while back, I refinished the tub with some of that paint-on coating. I was too impatient to get some TSP and properly clean that area that was formerly under a built-in soap dish, so there was residue. The paint-on coating didn’t stick there and bubbled up, and the stains came through. Now if I use any harsh chemicals, the paint-on coating will be damaged. I’m not even supposed to use bleach, for crying out loud! I’m tempted to just sand the whole area with 60 grit sandpaper and start all over again.

I say sand that tub! It will add one more project to your list…and prevent the s****l work from beginning/being done! YAY! for projects in our real life!

        • Lauren

Aren’t cats’ tongues like sandpaper? 60 grit? 40 grit?

        • kiwe

Sure Max lick the side of the tub that had chemical stains and now nasty bubbled up bathtub coating on it! Yumm

        • Lauren

Look at him. He’s obviously invincible.

Yay it’s Max! You better come live with me little guy … dnag it, I shouldn’t have had that work done under my arms … you would have followed ME anywhere~!

    • Beth

So…your armpits sounded like meat grinders? 😉
