Bake Sale

The kids at school who will be attending Youthquake (a gathering for Christian Middle Schoolers) have been sponsoring a bake sale. I sent out a call for goodies, and was amazed at the amount of donations. What was even more amazing was how the Middle School kids swarmed the bake sale table after school. We could hardly sell the items fast enough.

There were enough treats to hold sales three times: after school, at lunch, and after school. We sold things for 50 cents. I bundled the money last night, but didn’t do an exact count. The total amazes me. If we do this every week, I can cruise the Bahamas no one will have to pay for the youth gathering. Awesome!

Approximately $80.

Like you said, they’ll buy/eat anything! We could sell dirt in a bag. It’s a good thing we aren’t drug dealers!

      ……wait – we’re not?!…..

‘Dirt in a bag’ – Ha! That’s awesome that you made so much money. Will you do this kind of fundraiser again, or something else to mix it up, like a raffle to see who gets to fix Mr. Royuk’s tire?

I’m holding out for a “Mr. Royuk’s Tie Collection Sale” myself. If junk-mug-sales history is any indicator, each individual tie could bring enough to support all of us for life totally cover those Middle Schooler’s expenses to Youthquake.

Yay!!! Fundraising can really be a chore, so it’s great when it’s successful!

In our high school and middle school (junior high) days, our student council made a killing selling t-shirts in the school’s colors, emblazoned with our mascot and our graduation year or (in the case of one group)the actual names of everyone in that graduation class arranged to make up their graduation year . They were all the rage. Lauren may remember.

It’s amazing how, if you pick the right catalyst, the quarters and dollar bills seem to come out of nowhere.

    Congratulations, Brad. That’s exciting!

Did I go to high school? Brad and I have terrible memories, y’know.

Just kidding. The shirts I do remember were not of the fund-raising type, but long-sleeve green sweatshirts that we bought for flag team, with our name in 3-inch vinyl letters down the right arm and ’88’ on the left. We were so cool!

Are you still stuck with a ton of oatmeal raisin goodies, though – the adult snacks no normal young adolescent would touch with a ten-foot pole? (or Czech, for that matter…)
