Air Vent Rhythm

I had to stop at school on my way home from YouthQuake yesterday. We have chapel today and I wasn’t ready for it. I’m glad to say that I am now ready. Today is the Twelfth Day of Christmas, so I’m using that song in chapel today.

While I was at school, I had to go to the bathroom a couple of times because I had drunk some coffee in the morning. Because the building was completely empty, I heard a sound that normally gets drowned out by the drone of occupancy. I heard the air vent.

I think what I heard is one of those spinny things you see on top of buildings. I think it was the spinning part making the noise. I really liked it. If I were more motivated, and if I did such things anymore since college, I would try to write some music using the rhythm of beats coming out of this vent. DA da da da DA da da da DA da da DA da da DA da da da…

You might have to turn up the sound to hear it. Don’t worry – there is no loud “bang” at the end or anything.

Cool – it sounds like a far-away marching band.

You knew I’d have to post this, right? If anyone else wants to hear some music set to a different kind of rhythm, click here!

(The music starts up at 0:44.)

Ok this is the coolest thing I have seen in a while. “Don’t have a drummer for your band? Use a tractor!”

Dnag it. Lauren stole my comment. Except I would have said something like, “I think you found the marching band.”

    • Lloyd

No, I’m going to go with, “I think I figured out what happened to the marching band.”

      • Lauren

        Is that your final answer?

To quote Mayor Schinn: Where’s the BAND?

    • Deborah

      Mayor Schinn. Ha!

That vent sounds like my dryer when something odd gets mixed in with the clothes…like a shoe, or a pet.

      A PET!!!!

      • Lauren

or a hammer – I’ve had that happen in the washer.

O.K. Time for a comment from a grandma in Mayberry.

Anyone seen “STOMP”? Rythym at it’s finest……Didn’t see any air vents in their performance, though.!!!!

A-HA! When I stand by the copier on weekends when I’m the only one around I hear that noise, I thought above me though, and wondered if it were some sort of paper folding machine (our former church office always used one of those back int he day) but I couldn’t figure out who or where or what or why, so I always left perplexed. You’ve solved that mystery, sir. Thank you – I can sleep tonight.

I still think you should have surprised everyone by jumping in front and screaming like a mad man!
