This is National Lutheran Schools Week, and we’re celebrating with all kinds of special events. We’re also having special dress days in honor of the week.
Yesterday was Pajama Day. I always wear the same articles of clothing for Pajama Day: some green-striped pajamas and a Superman robe. The robe was a gift from my parents for Christmas. It’s not warm enough for regular winter use, but its awesome-ness more than makes up for that. The kids are always envious when I wear it to school. And they should be.
I don’t remember receiving the pajamas, but I’ve had them for a long time. I keep them in my “costume box”, and the only time I wear them is for a Pajama Day at school. They used to belong to my Grandpa Hummel. Even if I didn’t remember that on my own, I’d be able to tell. They have a name label stuck on the inside. Hehe…
Today is Clash Day.
Wow – it has a subtle Superman pattern in the actual cloth!
I found on our pajama day that I really schlepped around. I had on my slippers and just couldn’t keep from dragging my feet. It was wonderful.
Indeed – I thought middle schoolers had trouble picking up their feet on other days to begin with – yesterday it seemed they could only shuffle all day at best. Now hat noise made me tired.
I’m always very tired on Pajama day. One of our other teachers says “goodnight” to the kids all day. I am so stealing that.
I believe the things I miss most about teaching full-time ina real school (college is NOT real) is dress-up days. I love those.
And, I have a Grandpa Hummel jammie shirt, too. Complete with tag. But I don’t have the pants. I don’t know why.
Wouldn’t that be because your family isn’t really all that fond of pants?
Heh.

Daniel has full-body fleece pajamas. He’s outgrowing this set, so I think next fall we’re going to have to buy him another. I wonder how those would go over on pajama day. Do you think we’d have to sew the velcro potty-flap closed?
Heck, I’m envious when you wear that robe…it is awesome! But we’ll see who’s drooling when I get this:

Are the schools still singing that song “It’s cool, cool, cool. In Lutheran school, school, school…..”?
“With Christian friends and teach-ers, too. It’s great, great, great to cele-brate, brate, brate…”
“Whose idea-ea-ea was this song-ong-ong?”
I feel so out of the loop – this is all news to me! Someone clue me in!! Thanks in advance…
Me, too. I’m a public school alumn.
