So… Hot…

I didn’t do much yesterday. Mostly it was because I was so hot. Not having central air, I use window air conditioners to cool my house. And mostly it’s just my bedroom air conditioner. I’ve been running the bedroom unit all night with the door closed, then opening the door in the morning. The cool air comes down the stairs and makes the living room fairly comfortable.

Yesterday that didn’t work. It was so hot in my house, all I did was sit in front of a fan and read. I did take a break to go to IKEA, where it was blessedly cool, but then returned to the oppressive hotness of my house. I turned on my bedroom air conditioner early last night, so it was nice and cool when I went to bed. I also then turn a fan on full blast and point it right at my bed. It makes me have extra eye crusties in the morning, but it’s worth it.

Yay for air conditioning! I would never have made a very good pioneer.

Pay no attention to that sad-looking plant. I'm afraid I've been neglecting it.

Would they let you sit in a little display room in IKEA and read all day? I think it would really help sell some EKTORP chairs.

    • Peggy

HA! They do let you do that in Barnes & Noble. They even provide nice comfy chairs…and it’s nice & cool in there…usually, unless it gets to crowded…then it’s off to the food store…frozen food aisle!

When I worked at a TV station years ago, I used to go to Barnes & Noble on my lunch hour to waste time. I liked sampling the music. A couple of times I was woken by someone yelling at me “Are you Ok?!?!??”.

        • Peggy

          HA!! I’ve never fallen asleep…yet…

Your ties there remind me that Daniel wants to know where to get fun ties. Is online the only option? Or is there a place where he can personally see and touch happy face ties and Escher ties and Beatles ties and other ties that express his personality?

    • Beth

Airport terminal shopping areas always have those tie stores.
      Flying anywhere soon?

I’ve HATED these hot, humid days!! HATED I tell you!

I’m looking into a quaint igloo in the South of Alaska. If all goes well, it’ll be mine by mid-August.

    • Carol

You’re in ALASKA now, Pegster?!? When did THIS happen?
[Or is this just wishful thinking?]

If you really are there, do look for my friends, Pat & Richard Croop, also from sunny downtown Rosedale, cruising around up there about now.

…and good luck with that igloo. If nothing else, maybe an Eskimo can sell you a freezer…(variation on an older idiom)

…oh, and the echocardiogram came in “normal”…heart might be the only “normal” part of my body, but I’m good with that.

…oh, oh, and it looks like I may have two sections of biology this year…with many of the same students I waved a fond farewell to in June, now brought back by popular demand. I don’t know who will be more distressed if this comes to fruition…

–off to cool off in our central A/C now…

      • Peggy

YAY for a normal heart! That’s great!! And just so you know, I’ve always been very fond of abnormal people.

Plant or Slippers… Plant or Slippers… Nope, I can’t decide.

    • Carol

Thanks, Lloyd – I now know what Chip & Dale are sitting beneath the sad neglected foliage there. Cleared it right up for me.

  5. Curt

Aaahh, that is a plant. I thought that was It from the Adams Family (on a bad hair day).
