Three Years Later…

Today is my half birthday! Yay! Just a reminder: the custom on someone’s half birthday is to tell them how awesome they are.

I’m hoping today goes better than yesterday. Yesterday I finally got myself worked up to finish the trim work in the kitchen. There are end-cap pieces for the cabinets and trim pieces that have been sitting in the basement for three years. I got the bottom edge of the cabinets trimmed and decided that the tops should be trimmed too. But I hadn’t ordered enough material for that, so I checked IKEA’s website to see if it was still being made. It is! So I went to the store to get some more. But it wasn’t in stock. D’oh! I had to order it. It’ll be here in 10 to 14 days. D’oh! I’ll be all wrapped up in school work by then. I hope it’s not another three years before I get back to it again.

Trimmed on the left, not trimmed on the right.

Wow, are you lucky they still make those pieces! Now let’s hope the wood grain and stain match after all this time, eh?

Your birthday comment made me laugh.
    Happy thirty-nine-and-a-half.
    So here’s to him
    who hung his trim.
This poem’s rough – just first draft.

Happy 1/2 Birthday! Cabinets look great! Where’s the picture of the bottom cabinets though?

And today you have full permission to 1/2 do anything you’d like….guilt free!

Just think, Brad – in only six more months you’ll be on the hill…as opposed to over it, I think; that happens the next year.

    I remember forty – it was a good decade…

–“every day above ground is a good day” (sentiment shared by the over-forties out here)
