Why I Haven’t Seen a Rat Lately

I went out to walk in my garden yesterday. I like to enjoy all the flowers and pull a weed or two and watch the progress of some mysterious plants that came from nowhere. I also continue to regularly feed the goldfish. One of them took a piece of food from my hand the other day.

As I got to the back of my yard, I was really focusing in on the globe thistle plants. Their flowers are little spiky spheres. I like to touch them. I think I must’ve been standing there for a solid minute before I noticed what was on the ground directly in front of me.

It's like a bird exploded.

I’ve seen two different cats in my yard – one gray and one orange. It could have been one of them, or it could have been a fox. There is at least one fox living in the neighborhood. While I don’t cheer on an animal that kills birds, I do have to say that I haven’t seen a rat or a mouse (or a rabbit) since last summer. Good job, mysterious killer!

Just as I raised my spoon of cereal to my mouth, I saw the carnage. You might have to buy me a new keyboard, mister.

Yea…well…how do you know a bird didn’t just explode?! I mean, there’s SHC (spontaneous human combustion); how do we know there’s no SAE (spontaneous avian explosion)? Maybe he didn’t listen to his mother and ate a whole tube of raw biscuit dough one too many times!!

…but the cat theory has merit, too. Go with that one, if you like.

I bet Max would do that if he were an outside kitty.

Wow that is awesome. That was a big bird. Oh I have to add this old clip.

How much carnage can one yard hold…honestly!

And did you find yourself with this song in your head the rest of the day?

    Happy half birthday! :)
We are back from the lake and I’m up late. I took a look at the clock while playing Spider Solitare and noticed it was tomorrow already!
