My Favorite Sister

I got a package in the mail at school a couple days ago. It was from Beth. I was so excited when I saw what it was: she sent me three activity books for Religion class. Woo hoo! I’ve been working hard to vary the lessons in 6th Grade Religion, and the workbook is of little help. It’s like they were trying to make their lessons all feel the same. “Where are all the fun activities?” I kept asking, but they never showed.

But now I have them! One book is full of artistic-type activities, one book is full of letter sudoku, and one book is full of word puzzles. Awesome! The books are awesome, and Beth is awesome.

I used my first activity yesterday. It was a wordsearch on the temptation of Jesus. What was really cool was that after doing the wordsearch, the letters that weren’t used spelled another word. It was amazing.

My desk isn't so neat anymore.

Awwww… she must really love you! Very thoughtful, Beth, very thoughtful indeed.

Can you show a Sudoku page? I’m curious how that works with letters – do they spell something or do you mix up various words?

    • Brad

It has the same rules as a number sudoku, except it’s letters. And when you get the letters in the right places, a word or phrase is revealed. You can sort of see a solved puzzle on the cover of the book in the picture. Stacked vertically in the puzzle is the word “GARDEN”.

        Excellent. Thank you!

        Is that a CPH book?

        • Beth

All three of them are CPH.

Awww… I’m your favorite. 😀 (Never mind counting, you bums.)

I’m glad you have better activities. Mostly glad for those 6th graders, because I’ve seen their religion book.

I wouldn’t dream of counting. In my book, favorite is favorite!

What a wonderful sister indeed! How nice of you to help your brother & the whole sixth grade class!!

And in your spare time Brad, you really should start re-writing the CPH religion stuff. It’s well over-time for an update & you’re just the man for the job.

They were a”maze”ing, eh? Were there any of those sort of puzzles in there as well? Like “Help Jesus find His way out of Gethsemane” or “Bring Jesus safely to the Mount for His transfiguration” or….yea, I know, I’m being a wise-acre…

You are a good middle school teacher/sister/woman, Beth!

–she who used that workbook daily a few years ago but supplemented with many things, now that she thinks on it.
