Emergency Shoe Shopping

I never found any teacher shoes that I liked this year, so I’ve been wearing last year’s shoes. Recently, the left shoe has shifted so that the edge of the insole has been under my heel. It was very uncomfortable and required an emergency shoe purchase.

I only went to one mall. And only two stores. The first shoe I looked at in the first store was the one I got. The store is called The Walking Company, and is supposedly all about comfortable shoes. The brand I got was Bass Clarks. Brady has been recommending this brand for a while, so I thought I’d give it a try.

I got a slip-on shoe this time. I’ve had shoelaces for two years now. There’s something not quite Bradlike about the shape of these shoes. It both disturbs and delights me.

If only they'd stay this shiny and clean.

One of my favorite things about these shoes is a little detail that no one will ever see. There’s kind of a honeycomb thing on the back heel with orange inside of it. I think it’s really cool, but my pants will forever be covering it.

What's it for? Is it just cool looking, or does it have a deeper purpose?

“…Disturbs and delights me.” What an interesting phrase. If someone set a half-glass of water in front of you, would you say it is half-full and half empty?

They’re good-looking shoes! (Yet mine are more manly.)

I think “Disturbs and delights” perfectly characterizes the mixed emotions that are normal with something as important as a shoe purchase.

Due to an unexpected death in the shipping department, they accidentally received 10,000 kid’s size heel covers instead of the adult size. But never ones to let something like that get in the way of making shoes, the Bass people just forged ahead.

Although there were some who say that the people in the heel department never even noticed the difference.

I love Bass shoes. Brady has good taste.

Very nice shoes! I wonder what it is about the shape that is unBradlike?

How about these? Would these be in dress code? And did you model for these? They look quite like you.

Ewwww, Peggy! A glimpse of that made the hair stand up all over my body. Imagine…lacing the tops of the feet…ick! Again, disturbing and delightful at the same time.

Like I said … Bass Outlet!
I’m glad you got them without traveling the bridge AND I amd super happy that they are quiet going down the hall!

It was Clarks that Brady is always talking about. And Clarks is the brand I got. I did a strikethrough of the “Bass” above so the Bass comments would still make sense.

WOW – Clarks! They can be expensive! No wonder they don’t squeak!

My Brown Sunday Dress Shoes (hereafter referred to as MBSDS) are also Clarks. They make a nice shoe.

I’m still a Born fan. Maybe, mostly because of the funky O that they use in their logo. And they’re comfy. But all my work shoes are slip-ons.

•Unique air circulation system features intake vents to allow cooler, fresh air to enter.
•Channeled mesh creates a defined path for warm, moist air to flow and escape through exhaust vents.

    seriously?

Brad doesn’t need fresh air in his shoes…his feet make fresh air for the outside world…thanks to Grandpa Hummel.

I think they’re just orange slice smiles for anyone following behind you when you where them. “Have a nice day!” without turning to wave or anything. Pretty nifty.

      No, huh?

      • Carol

That should be “wear”, not “where” – dnag it.

This must have been the weekend for emergency shoe purchases. Having done without white lace sneakers for months now (my Easy Spirits gave up the ghost months before I finally tossed them), on a lark (sorry, Brady) I stopped in to Famous Footware and found a pair of lovely Avia-s (never heard of this brand before, but they fit wonderfully) for under $40. That’s under $4/toe – I’m good with that price point! Happy holidays to my feet!
