Toast

I don’t often have bread at home. I don’t eat it fast enough, then it molds. Since my family was here, I had bread on hand. That meant that for dinner last night I could have… BUTTERED TOAST! Mmmm… so good… I had four pieces of toast and a glass of orange juice. It was delicious!

But I had a problem: all my butter was in the refrigerator. There are few food items more maddening than hard butter. I tried ten seconds in the microwave at 20% power. That wasn’t quite enough, but was better than melting the butter to liquid, then trying to spread it on. I will continue to search for the magic microwave numbers to make a hard stick of butter soft. In the meantime, I’ll keep some butter out. My bread hasn’t molded yet.

And don’t worry about my nutritional requirements… I also had some Fruity Pebbles. They are fortified with essential vitamins and minerals.

A perfect combination of sweet and savory.

    Mmmmm…. toast…… melty butter….. mmmmmm….

Speaking of, 11 seconds on full power is enough to soften about 1/3 a stick of butter in our microwave, not 111 seconds, which I sometimes enter and end up with a nice bowl of lava.

Why don’t you freeze the bread, then throw it in the toaster slice-by-slice?

Brad, can you consult with your technical advisor to see if you can add the “email me with responses” thing that LloydandLauren have? Often times I want to know what people say, but I’m far to lazy to remember to check back. You understand.

With that perfect combination of sweet and savory, how in the world did you decide what to drink? I see the juice won over the milk. What criteria did you use to make that decision?

You seriously need one of these:

A butter bell! I love the idea of those, but am too lazy to use one.

They are awesome..and not hard. You save all that time opening the refrigerator door.

Agreed, if you keep your butter in the fridge. I just leave 1/2 a stick out in an open bowl on top of the microwave – the better to gather dust. 😉

Of all the names the link suggests, I’d go with Norman butter bowl. Or I’d go with the German “Butterdosen”.

      “Has anyone seen my butterdosen?”
