I have finished my second Paul Maier book. The first one was A Skeleton in God’s Closet. I thoroughly enjoyed that book. Seeing many recommendations online for Pontius Pilate, I ordered it.
I liked this book even more! I liked the fact that it was written to be as historically accurate as possible. It felt like I was learning history while reading a very interesting story. Whenever Jesus appeared in the story, I wanted to cheer. Yay Jesus! And reading about the difficulties in Pilate’s political history helped me understand a little better how he would allow someone he thought was innocent to be put to death.
I give Pontius Pilate an enthusiastic Bradaptation recommendation. And yesterday, I received another Paul Maier book in the mail. The Flames of Rome is set a few years later, during the time of persecution for Christians. I think I’ll wait until Christmas break to read this one.
Oh, oh, I’m going to try them!
Agreed – Biblical historical fiction is fun. I have a couple – Lydia and Abigail. They’re written from more of a ‘clean romance novel’ view, so I don’t think you’d enjoy them.
Pontius Pilate looks like he has shades on in that picture. “Dude – I’m Pontius.”
I thought the same thing. I also thought he looked like a lighter-skined Laurence Fishburne.

Well, without the goatee anyway.
Those books do sound really good…I think I would like to read them too. I’m so impressed that you were able to read an entire book so fast…what with your busy schedule.
And I think PP (hehe) looks a little like Tommy Lee Jones in that picture.
