Invisible Improvement

Yesterday I got a new oil tank for my home heating system. The old tank was weeping oil from the bottom and didn’t have much time left before it broke open and had a full-on leak.

Denis was off work yesterday, so he was able to let the workers in. By the time I was home, the tank was replaced. The workers did a great job. I saw no damage to the basement and no damage to my garden in the back yard, even though they dragged the old tank out that way.

It feels good to have done a home improvement that will last for fifty or sixty years, but at the same time, it’s something I hardly ever look at, so it’s kind of a bummer. Maybe I should schedule a little time each week to sit in the basement next to the new oil tank and admire its newness.

OLD TANK:
The previous owner painted it white.

NEW TANK:
It's a little wider, so it's not as long.

We had to replace a big sprinkler thing that was quite expensive. It’s underground. Very hard to see.

Is it smaller than your old one, or just better-looking? Sorry, but younger is more beautiful.

The tanks hold the same amount of oil, but they are different dimensions.

I thought the new one looked really flat.

Great looking new flat tank…how very sheik chic!

(When my kids were little, one of them said “Tank you” and the other one said “Tent tu”….for thank you)
