I’ve had a weird jaggedy tooth for a week or so now. I was pretty sure a filling broke or something, so I made an appointment for the dentist to look at it. My dental appointments are all scheduled for the afternoon – after school. By then, of course I’ve eaten and drunk things. Instead of bringing toothbrush and toothpaste to work with me, I chew gum.
This was the perfect opportunity to taste my newest gum purchases: Dessert Delights. There’s key lime pie flavor, and strawberry shortcake flavor. I tried the strawberry first. It was okay. It tasted sort of like strawberry and sort of like something else. It was unusual and not unpleasant. The key lime pie was next. It genuinely tastes like key lime pie to me. I can taste the lime, the crust, and even the whipped cream. And I didn’t even swell up like that girl in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Well done, Extra Gum Company. Well done.
Oh, and for the record, my tooth is broken. I’ll need another crown. Dang. The first available afternoon appointment is December 17.
That actually sounds really good. I will look for that. nice to have something other than mint.
And not to hijack your blog again, but just so anyone who may be interested, my take on our meeting is here:

Yours was funnier though.
Pie-flavored gum? I want to say that I gagged a little, but I’ll be kind and say, “Hmm – that sounds interesting”.
No – gagging a little. It would be like endlessly chewing a piece of pie and never being able to swallow. I chew things 5 times – max. I also try not to bite down very hard on anything so it doesn’t break a tooth. Basically, I’m a shark. (Also, I’ve just guaranteed that I’m going to break a tooth soon.)
(P.S. Picture of the broken tooth! Picture of the broken tooth!!)
We were in the wal*marts last week and the end cap by the checkout counter had a big advertisement for “Go Gum.” I asked Lauren what that was about and she said, “60, Lloyd. That’s a six and a zero.”
Ok, I’ll ask. So what does ’60 Gum’ or ’60 6um’ mean? Apparently I’m a dodo.
Brad, how do you always find such unique flavored mints & gum? I wonder if they have a good chocolate gum out there?
The same Extra Dessert Delights comes in Mint-Chocolate-Chip. I saw it at the Wal-Marts just yesterday.
Peggy, it was one of those canister-things that held 60 pieces of gum. Your question made me wonder, too, and now I think we missed the word ‘pieces’ somewhere on the sign. Crazy gum people.
Speaking of crazy – Brad’s title sounds like Ewok, which I am fluent in, thanks to a lovely little middle school choir medley.
Ahem: Yub nub. E chop, yub nub.
Ah toh wha g’no p’chee keen
G’noop doc fling – oh ah!
There’s more, but I have to go to a meeting. You’re welcome.
Gum related story from last week…after my 3 year old had been chewing Trident for about 4 hours, I was told, “Mommy, my gum used to be a rectangle, but now it’s all tangled up.”
