World of Pets Expo

Happy Birthday, Peggy! Yay! How great to have your birthday on a weekend!

I went to the World of Pets Expo at the Maryland Fairgrounds yesterday. I missed it last year for some reason, so I was glad to get back to my annual visit. There seemed to be more people there this year. Maybe they were feeling cabin fever from all the snow days. And there were lots of people who brought their dogs. And there were lots of people with BIG dogs. I enjoyed walking around and looking at the vendors, but most of them were dog items: dog floor mats, dog beds, dog clothes, dog societies… There was a small section for cat stuff, but it was pretty unsatisfying.

There were several dog treat places that had dried animal parts that dogs could chew on. I’ve seen pig ear and pig snout before, but yesterday I saw something I’ve never seen before: cow trachea.

    Blech.

    No wonder I like cats.

(Also, our friend has a dog and his favorite treats are dried bull penises. Double blech.)

Cow. Trachea. I just gagged. Dogs chewing on those – that’s some horrible imagery.

They sell dried bull penises at Trader Joe’s! It’s in the song!
It’s five different flavors of lemonade,
It’s dried bull penises done up in a braid.

    (Also horrible imagery.)

And – Happy Birthday to Peggy!

Now that is being resourceful. Plus making a killing on them too. $2.99? That is highway robbery.

Also, enough with the penis talk.

Dang, cows have some big tracheas….you could probably practice your golf putting into one of those things.

    My inlaws eat tripe…..BLECH!!!!

(Thanks for the birthday wishes….and for making me gag!!!)

      I just googled tripe.

I threw up a little at only the definition, nevermind the pictures.

      BLECH.

Dad the butcher often sold those in his shop. He also tended to bring home on the weekend whatever hadn’t sold during the week so as not to waste…fortunately, most of the tripe sold to poor unsuspecting personages and I never had to eat it. Or, at least, I don’t have mrmory of having eaten it. That could be the blessing in itself….
