Vacation Day!

I went on a daytrip yesterday. Denis’ friend Philipe from New York has a time share and he is enjoying it right now at a place called National Harbor, which is right across the water from Alexandria, VA. He has his mom and his brother (and family) with him. Denis was going to go to lunch with them yesterday and asked if I wanted to go along. I didn’t have anything else planned, so I said “yes”.

National Harbor appears to be an area exclusively built for hotels and the associated gift shops and restaurants. We walked around a little to check the area out. There’s a convention center there that is currently full of special education teachers. But the most exciting thing there was completely unexpected:

Cue the music...

It was a whole store full of Peep stuff! It was amazing! And apparently, Peeps are affiliated with Mike and Ike’s candy. They had an individual flavor dispenser!

I got several delicious flavors.

After lunch, we all went to Annapolis. Philipe’s mom was fun to talk to. She talked about Donald Trump. It was funny. Philipe’s niece was so cute. She held my hand a couple of times while we walked around Annapolis.

It was like an awesome one-day vacation. It more than made up for my lack of travel this spring break… stupid government taking all my stupid travel money…

I keep meaning to go there… one of these days. I’m glad you went and took pictures. Now I can delay my trip there once again.

That building is the happiest thing I’ve ever seen! I don’t even like Peeps, yet still feel the draw.

How great that you got a mini-vacation without breaking the bank. Well done, Denis!

P.S. What did you eat for lunch?

    • Brad

It was actually brunch. Philipe’s family had cooked a bunch of Philippine breakfast foods in their timeshare kitchen: corned beef, sweet sausages, scrambled eggs with potatoes, and rolls. There was rice too. I don’t eat much rice, but they were fine with that. More for them.

Yay for finding a little paradise on your vacation….a Peep Paradise!

Did you try any peep flavors?

    • Brad

I have already tried every Peep flavor I saw there. But they were handing out a new thing – chocolate covered marshmallow. I’m forgetting the name of the product at the moment… In my opinion, the chocolate-to-marshmallow ratio was off – too much chocolate.

What serendipity (that word isn’t used enough, I think)! Good for you – I was vicariously mourning your lack of spring travel this year; forgot the gubmint was responsible for that…anyway, SO glad Denis and clan came to the rescue and what fun to find a retail store exclusively for the Peeps fan that we all know you are. I’d have to say you had even more fun than I did this morning (having two new toilets installed at home) – and that’s saying a lot, ‘cuz I’d been looking forward to these toilets for over a month now! Yup – Peeps and National Harbor have it over even the new Glacier Bay high seat elongated bowl low flow but high flush power toilets, I think. Yea, you – congratulations, especially sinc ethe weather seemed to hold for you. (Today would have been a yucky day to be out galevanting, eh?)

I hope you bought me something.
