Something and Nothing

Happy Birthday to my dad! Yay! It’s a big one, since he was born in 1941. Do the math. If I remember correctly, he taught math when I was in elementary school, but I didn’t have him as a teacher because I was in a different math class. Or was that music? Happy Birthday, Dad!

Yesterday I submitted to a test of endurance: I tried to do nothing all day long. It was quite difficult. I watched TV, surfed on the computer, and read. I enjoyed the down time, but I think that I need to do at least one “productive” or “interesting” activity each day this summer, or I may go crazy. I have some home projects I’ve been putting off. After yesterday, I may actually be ready to do them.

I spent most of the time on the couch. Max sat with me almost the entire day. I don’t know how he endures that day-in and day-out. I have new respect for him. When I got bored, I would have to switch activities, or even go to another room. When Max got bored, he licked himself. If that got old, he licked me. As intrigued as I was, I decided not to try licking myself or Max.

I tried to get a picture of Max licking me, but they all looked weird. So instead, here's a closeup of his face.

*sigh* It sounds wonderful. I notice that ‘napping’ was not on the list – was that because you were so well-rested?

    Happy Birthday, Mr. Royuk!

Oh, I think you did something productive yesterday…..you spent the day with Max, giving him one of his best days ever…..a day with his Master!

Happy Birthday Mr. Royuk! I hope you have a fantastic day! (now I need to get out my calculator)

….you made me laugh out loud to myself. Nobody else home right now, so I had a long, hearty guffaw over your post today, friend. Thanks for starting the endorphin rush…and, yes, many blessings to Dad Royuk on the 31st anniversary of his 39th birthday!

Now go back to … whatever it was you weren’t doing anyway. Enjoy that.

I wish my cats could stay inside all day. They know not to go potty in the house, but they’ve never seen a litter box either. If we let them in, we have to keep an eye on them. (Jumping on the tables and counter is one of their favorite hobbies)
