Talk Show Man

Something nice about the endless painting I’m doing is that I’ve been able to listen to my favorite talk show guy several days in a row for the entire length of his show. His name is Ron Smith. He’s on WBAL radio (it’s in my link list). He talks mostly politics, and I love his perspective. He used to be on from 3pm to 6pm, so I would hear him after school was over. I’d listen on the drive from work and then sometimes watch him on TV when I got home. But then he went to a new time slot: 9am to 12pm. I never got to listen to him any more. I missed him.

This summer, I’ve had few occasions to be driving at 9am, and I haven’t often remembered to watch the show on TV. But when I was painting, I turned on the clock radio, and listened away. It was great. It was like having a painting partner. Thanks, Ron.

Yesterday was the 26th anniversary of him starting his radio show. I hope he does many more years.

He was talking about the troubles in the stock market when I took this picture.

I have a couple of painting soundtracks/shows. When I was painting the bathroom in the apartment on Columbia I listened to the radio and it seemed they played Melissa Etheridge’s “Come to my window” every other song. I think when I painted the entryway I was watching/listening to The View for the first time. Sting has sung me through several rooms, too.

Can’t wait to see how the room turns out!

I’ve listened to some music while I’ve been painting…but this made me realize, I could have been listening to a book on tape. Dang. But I don’t know if I could pay full attention to talking. I tend to daydream when painting. And sing.

And…the sneak peek at the wall and trim in the background of your picture is such a tease. 🙂

(Wait – it’s almost 5 pm here and nobody yet has asked why you have/need/would even want an illustrated guide to CHICKENS? Please post your thoughtful reply when you have time – inquiring minds have to know!)

Hehe… I wondered what it would take to keep chickens in my back yard. The book gave me the answer: too much work!
