Not Teacher Shoes

I got some new shoes from Dr. Martens. My current teacher shoes are from Doc Martens, and they are really comfortable. I had gotten a promotion code in my email for twenty percent off any item and was trying to find some new teacher shoes. My favorite style is still what I’m currently wearing, so I didn’t think I would get anything, but then I noticed something in the clearance area: some ankle-high boots that were only $30. I’ve never owned ankle-high boots. High-top sneakers, yes. Boots, no.

I bought them. I figure I can wear them on weekends. Maybe when it snows they’ll be good for keeping snow from getting into my shoes when I shovel or whatever. I don’t think I’ll wear them at school. The insoles are not as comfortable as my current teacher shoes.

I like the rivet on the side.

Those are some nice-looking boots! I agree that they’ll be good when winter comes – nothing worse than soggy ankles on a cold day.

And for 30 bucks? That’s a tremendous deal!

Wait, you shovel snow in regular shoes?!?

    Great looking boots!!!

And as always….you got a deal. Here’s my deal from the weekend. I went to the PX with Matt & purchased several items. None on sale. When I got home, my brand new, non-scratched sunglasses were not in the bag. Ahhhh! I can’t go back to the PX because I’m a civilian.

For some reason, the image of Paul Bunyan and Babe, his big blue ox, came to mind when I saw that boot picture. Of course, you would be Brad Royuk and Max, his chubby hairless cat, but other than that …

…and Peggy, that’s one lousy deal alright! Can’t Matt go looking for them for you, hold them ’till you see one another again and/or mail them home? He’s not a civilian, right?

Matt came home this weekend. We went to an event at Aberdeen Proving Ground on Saturday & stopped at that PX there on the way out. I went to get the new glasses out of the bag this morning to wear in taking Matt back to WP. We didn’t have time to go back to the PX. I don’t know if too much time will have passed to go back when he comes home next. And they were Foster Grants! (And yes, Matt is not considered a civilian…he’s considered military)

I went shoe shopping today too! I got some lace-less(just the way I like them : ) ) church shoes. But we didn’t go to Sheals! I wanted to get some of those cool shoes with toes in them that Gemma and Luke are always wearing! Those don’t even need socks!

I don’t know how I missed a boot post. I’m pro-boot. It’s all I wear to school. I wore Doc Martens for about 8 year. A pair would last about 2 year, and way back in the beginning when it was time to buy my second pair I had trouble finding them, so once I found them I bought 3 pair.

I always got the industrial ones with the non-slip sole, steel toe and gor-tex liner. But I always had to add an insole to them, because their my foot was right between two of their sizes. I got a nice one the first time, and I think it lasted for the next 3 boots.

But I eventually got tired of the way the plastic upper part (the rest was leather) would always wear out before the rest of the shoe, so I switched to Danner. Last year one of our seniors told me that they make the boots for the Marines too. I’ve been pretty happy with the Danners. The very bottom layer of the sole has a tendency to separate from the rest of the sole, but a little epoxy has fixed that.

There, way more than anyone wanted to know, but it’s a boot post.
