Fit to be Tied

I put together the room divider my mom got me when we went to IKEA. It is called EKNE. It’s a metal frame that’s supposed to have cloth ‘curtains’ on it, but I left the cloth off and put ties on it instead. It looks nice.

OLD TIE RACK:
This tie rack is from IKEA too. It was sold as a drying rack.

NEW TIE RACK:
The ones I've already worn are on the far right section.

And since I was transferring ties, I took the time to do something I always tell my students I’ve never been bored enough to do: I counted my ties. I have 243 ties on the new rack. I threw away 16 unusable ones (stained, ripped, etc.). I have 2 that I feel like I shouldn’t throw away, but I’ll never wear: an impossibly long tie that my church choir members in Seattle ‘signed’ for me when I left, and a tie from 1999/2000 New Year’s.

Is the sentimentality worth it?

Drat. I was trying to come up with some sort of binary joke for the tie but it’s too early and I’m not bright enough for that.

Cool tie rack! I like that it has a couple of levels so you can space them out, though it looks like you could use several of those racks.

I have no joke, but from what I remember from my engineering days, those bit settings could mean a restrained missile firing … just saying.

Or it could be code for “Your mom rocks!” That is an awesome tie rack. What will you do with the old one?

That’s an awesome holder for your ties! How did you ever look at it as an EKNE & see tie rack? You are quite the visionary!

And I think you should keep passing down that New Year’s tie. Eventually a Royuk could where it on 01-01-3000!
