More Hollies

The mail order garden plant catalogs are all running sales right now. I’m usually able to resist them, but one of my places had Sea Holly on sale. This past May, I loved the flowers of the Sea Hollies I have, so I figured that more would be better. Woo hoo! I did restrain myself at least a little… I didn’t buy twelve plants, just four.

We have an open house at school tomorrow, so I won’t be able to plant them. But maybe Sunday. “Fall is for planting”, as they say, but I don’t want to wait until the ground is frozen. I still have rocks to move around too. Why does the rest of my life keep interfering with my gardening?

Sea holly plants are hard to find at garden centers.

I’m sure the Open House is a good thing, but I’m sorry it eats into your weekend. Once we perfect that cloning device, though, your weekends will be crazy productive.

Nice to see a leg cameo by Stabby Man, too.

That is one very cool looking flower! Iwould have gone for the 12.

And oddly enough, I had an encounter just this week on my way to work with one of my favorite Hollies :

I feel your pain; the rest of my life interferes with my stitching – I have 15+-year-old projects on stretcher frames left unfinished. If only I could stay home to stitch and still be paid. Someone oughta work on that concept…
