Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Spooked

We’re having a little Christmas party time at school today, but I forgot to ask the kids to sign up to bring snacks in. It might actually be a good thing, because sometimes the food can get a little over the top. The other eighth grade advisor DID remember, so there are about five eighth grade kids bringing sweets. The other advisor will bring water, and I went to get a few bags of chips yesterday.

I got the chips from the CVS that’s in walking distance from me because it was convenient. I had my truck because I stopped on the way home from choir practice.

The parking lot of CVS makes me nervous for some reason. I can walk all over my neighborhood at night and feel fine, but this one location gives me the jibblies for some reason. Perhaps it reminds me of some movie I saw or something. It certainly isn’t unsafe. There has never been any mugging in my neighborhood as far as I know. The only crime issues are public drunkenness and a little vandalism. Never violence. But for whatever reason, I still feel a little jumpy. I always walk quickly to my truck.

The sidewalk is brightly lit, and there are almost always people around.

I am on board with the creepiness. That picture makes it look like a looong hallway, and when I was a kid, the hallway was the worst part of the house at night. You had to cross it to go to the bathroom but you just knew there was something unseen at the end that was going to get you.

Or that the dark knots in the boards of the wood floor were going to morph into spiders that would kill you.

Why? Why did you have to say that? *shudder* *shudder*

At least I courageously braved the floor full of spiders so I could get to Mom and Dad’s room. …only to see a giant spider sitting on Mom’s hip (or a big flower on the quilt they were using). That’s when the hysterical crying started. I wonder how old I was. It seems like I wasn’t young-young. Maybe 10? Heck, I could have been 14.

And it looks like someone had already killed the Salvation Army Bell Ringers.

I’m with Lauren….that parking lot is long and skinny….a very unparking lot shape. It reminds me of some of the secret exit hallways in malls & movie theaters. Glad you got out of there alive! (unlike the poor bell ringers….Ha!)
