Hack Attack

When I tried to sign in to my hotmail account yesterday, I received a notice that my account had been blocked. Yikes! I had to give them a mobile phone number so they could text me a code to unlock the account. I was nervous about giving out my number, but what was I going to do? The code came and it worked. I have access to my hotmail again.

Thing one: I’m surprised my account was attacked. I thought hotmail was such an old-fashioned place to have email that hackers would ignore it.

Thing two: I had to change my password. Instead of something I can type fast, I made a “strong” password.

Thing three: I really should update my email methods. I should use bradaptation as home base. The only thing is, everybody knows how to spell “hotmail”, so it’s a much easier email to share. “Bradaptation”? That’s not even a word… except among legendary blogs on the internet. What if I’m giving my email to an older person who doesn’t use the internet much? Or what if I’m giving my email to a younger person who thinks FaceBook is the entire extent of the internet? I’ll stick with hotmail for now.

This is my Sent Mail. Only the bottom email is mine.

Well that was sure a rude thing for someone to do, eh? Now everyone will think you work for CareerBuilders and can get them a new job somewhere.

    Ahem.

So…if I send you a current resume’, how’s the market lookin’ out there anyway 😉 “

“…except among legendary blogs on the internets” – that’s comedy gold, sir. 😀

This past Thursday one of my preschool parents had her e-mail hacked, and like an idiot I clicked on the link her e-mail contained. (It appeared ‘kind-of’ relevant to her daughter.) I felt so stupid, especially since the day before I had sent a message out to all the parents telling them to never click on a link in an e-mail unless they are sure the sender meant to send it. Ooops.

You should keep your hotmail account and add a brad@bradaptation.com account, but have your new gmail account check them both and just read and respond to your email from there.

I don’t really understand. How did gmail know that your acct. was hacked? How did they know it wasn’t you? And what was the intention of the hacker? Or was it a computer hacker?

    Any which way…..sorry about that.

I have an option when reading emails to mark them as a phishing scam. I assume if an email address is reported enough, the hosting site could freeze the account.

As you know from studying my many zombie outbreak survival articles, this time of year (the end
of year holidays) is prime time for a pandemic outbreak
event and a subsequent zombie apocalypse. Turn upside down, Pygmies lose grip from earthquake.
Remember, there is something about a**holes that makes then resistant to almost all
forms of death, natural or otherwise.
