I went to the Maryland Home and Garden show yesterday. It was as fun as ever. And if I can survive winter long enough to see the Home and Garden show, I can make it to Spring.
I actually don’t spend much time at the show. I walk the circuit, eat something, and leave. It makes me feel like I’m wasting the ticket money. It’s twelve dollars to get in. Twelve dollars! Sheesh! That’s a lot of money. But I get to see garden vendors and indoor scenes of outdoor gardens that landscaping companies set up. I get to smell flowers and sit in rocking chairs. It refreshes me.
In the landscaping companies’ decorations, this year’s theme was books. There were some really clever ones. I thought the design based on “The Hobbit” was fun.
On the other side of the building from the “garden” area was the “home” area. I walk through there pretty fast because the vendors are kind of aggressive. One girl insisted on asking me if I’d done anything to increase the energy efficiency of my home lately. I told her I didn’t have enough money to make any improvements to my house. She gave me the weirdest look. Surely that’s not the first time she’s heard that response…
Anyway, I did walk through the entire “home” section. I even laid down on a memory foam bed to test it out. That’s when I saw this:
It was right next to the bed I was lying on! Probably bad product placement. I don’t think you want to give your customers the jibblies while they’re trying out your product.
I was done in about 90 minutes. That seems like kind of expensive entertainment to me… eight dollars per hour. Today I’ll take it easier on my wallet.
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Bed bugs!!! There are several cases at UNL, so now I’m afraid to go to Lincoln. *jibblie jibblie jibblie*
I so wish you would have taken off your shoes and knelt on them for the Hobbit photo. That would have been frame-worthy. 😀 “Hooray!” for garden shows that extend your sanity!
For $12.00 you’d at least expect the show to be in 3d. Oh, wait.
I LOVE the hobbit village!! And Lauren’s suggestion is excellent!! I put your name in the Hobbit Name Generator and here you go: Togo Frumblefoot of Scary;
I’m: Zelda Foxburr of Fair Downs
And I was going to say that the cost is just about that of a movie…..so I think you’re good. Plus, can you really put a price on celebrating the survival of winter & the beginning of your favorite seasons. I think not!
You must be in my head again, Peggy – this is pretty close to what I would have posted already had we not spent the afternoon (and $11 each) at the app. 90 minute new Lorax flick. Point made.
I thought of you, Brad, when I heard the show was this weekend. Glad you made time to walk yourself through it – you can’t put a price on those re-energizing effects. If it helps you get through the goshawfulwhyaretherenoholidaysfromschoolhere month of March, any ticket price might be worth it, no?
